ABOUT THE AUTOR

 Author, Fran Quittel, is a native New Yorker who, since 1996, has split her time between the Bay Area and 57th Street in Manhattan, at the foot of Central Park.  The Central Park Lost Mitten Party was inspired by a visit to the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where Fran’s adopted “almost aunt,” Florence Belsky, dropped one glove.  “Don’t worry about that glove,” Fran said to console her. “It’s in Central Park having a party!” “Now that’s all right in a story for children!”, Aunt Florence replied, and The Central Park Lost Mitten Party was born.  Educated at Hunter College and Yale University, Fran’s clear writing style, depth of research, and sense of humor have formed the backbone  of her work, whether writing Computer-World’s Career Column, FirePower! (10 Speed Press), non-fiction career guides (Prentice Hall), or working hand-in-glove with software companies large and small.   In 2010, Fran’s pro bono efforts helped add an amendment to the Dodd Frank Financial Reform Bill that restored $270 million to 9,500 bank depositors.   In addition to The Central Park Lost Mitten Party, Fran’s next book for children [and their parents] presents a similarly imaginative solution for another of life’s mysteries, the lost sock.
